Background on the 2025 Forced Returns

In July 2025, over one million Afghan immigrants who had sought refuge in Iran—some of whom had lived there for a couple of decades—were forcibly returned to Afghanistan. During this forced relocation, the returnees were subjected to cruel, inhumane, and indecent treatment by the authorities of the host country.

Our Response and Moral Obligation

At the Society of Afghan Engineers (SAE), we cannot remain silent when our people are going through extraordinary hard times. Driven by the circumstances surrounding this event, we responded to the call to action by extending emergency assistance for the forced return of these refugees in the summer of 2025. To fulfill our moral obligation to those suffering, our management allocated a monetary contribution to help provide relief to the returning individuals.

Collaboration and Execution

To ensure our emergency assistance was distributed effectively, we collaborated with an affiliate organization known as the Afghanistan Relief Alliance. The delivery of this aid relied on an integrated and coordinated effort. We are deeply grateful to the various volunteer individuals and groups who admirably managed and executed this relief initiative.
