Mahjan Saleh

Mahjan Saleh, our dedicated Treasurer on the Executive Committee, boasts an impressive career in civil engineering and project management, from her roots in Afghanistan to her impactful role in Alexandria, Virginia. With a master’s degree from Kabul Polytechnic Institute, she expertly manages capital improvement projects while fostering sustainable development.

Within our organization, Mahjan Saleh is an active member of our Executive Committee, holding the position of Treasurer. We deeply appreciate her continued support as an active member.

Educational Background

Mahjan Saleh graduated from the Kabul Polytechnic Institute (now Kabul Polytechnic University) in 1990, where she earned a master’s degree in hydrotechnical structures.

Professional Experience

Her career began in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she worked as an estimator and project manager for PAMA from 1991 to 1996, focusing on water supply and stormwater management projects. From 1996 to 2002, she worked as an administrator and accountant with the MRCA Hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Upon resuming her engineering work in the United States, she served as a junior engineer at Purai & Associates in Arlington, Virginia, in 2003, handling civil engineering and building work. Between 2003 and 2006, she was employed as a land development engineer with EMSI Engineering in Manassas, Virginia. In 2006, she worked as a land development engineer at Woolpert Inc. in Arlington, Virginia.

Since 2007, Mahjan Saleh has served as a Civil Engineer III for the City of Alexandria, Commonwealth of Virginia, working in the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services. In this position, her responsibilities include managing Capital Improvement Projects, reviewing development plans, preparing and designing plans and profiles, and overseeing the civil engineering work of consultants across various disciplines.
